Description
The TAPPI T821 Pin Adhesion Fixture is designed for evaluating the bond strength between the liner and medium in corrugated board, as described in TAPPI T821. This fixture securely holds the sample between arrays of pressure pins to accurately measure the internal bond.
This test helps manufacturers ensure good adhesive penetration and prevent defects like spotty adhesion or low internal bond strength that could impact box strength and performance.
The fixture is placed in a universal testing machine used along with compression plates, which then applies a force to the pressure pins until the bond between the liner and the flute tips fails. The force needed to cause the separation is recorded, often referred to as the "pin adhesion value".
